Saving a webpage as a PDF freezes the page as a portable document you can keep, email or print — every modern browser can do it in under a minute through its print menu. This guide shows the exact steps for Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox and mobile, and then a second option worth knowing: saving the page as a clean Markdown archive, which keeps the text editable and the links clickable instead of frozen.

Which method do you need?

Save a webpage as a PDF in Chrome or Edge

Chrome and Edge share the same steps:

1. Open the page you want to save.
2. Press Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+P (macOS), or open the browser menu → Print.
3. In the destination field, choose Save as PDF.
4. Optionally tweak headers/footers and background graphics under More settings.
5. Click Save and pick a location.

Tip: for long pages, scroll to the bottom once before printing — this forces lazy-loaded images to load so they appear in the PDF.

Save a webpage as a PDF in Safari

1. Open the page in Safari.
2. Press Cmd+P, or File → Print.
3. Click the PDF dropdown in the bottom-left corner of the print dialog.
4. Choose Save as PDF.

Safari's export tends to preserve layout well on macOS, and the same dropdown also offers Save as PDF-X or opening the page in Preview first.

Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox

1. Open the page in Firefox.

3. In the print preview, click the destination selector and choose Save to PDF.

Firefox shows a full preview first — useful for checking that the whole page made it in before saving.

FAQ

Does "Save as PDF" capture the whole page or just what's on screen? The whole scrollable page, in every major browser — the PDF includes content below the fold. Very long or infinite-scroll pages may be cut off; scrolling to the bottom before printing helps lazy content load.

Are links still clickable in the saved PDF? Most browsers export links as clickable annotations, but styling and footnote-style link lists vary. Text inside images is not clickable anywhere.

Why is the saved PDF missing images or styling? Usually lazy-loading or print-specific CSS. Enable Background graphics in the print dialog's more settings, and scroll through the page once before printing.
