Privacy Policy

Our commitment to protecting your privacy and personal data

2026/07/15

Plain-language summary. Uniclip is offline-first — your clips, rules and queue live in your browser. We only collect what we need to run the Service (like your email and billing info), we never sell your data, and you can export or delete everything at any time (see Section 6, Your Privacy Rights).

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Uniclip ("Uniclip", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our website at https://uniclip.net (the "Site"), the Uniclip browser extension (the "Extension"), and any related services (collectively, the "Services"). It also describes the rights and choices you have over your personal data.

This Policy is part of, and should be read alongside, our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms used but not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: Your email address, name, and password (handled as a secure hash) when you create an account, and any profile details you add.
  • Payment information: Billing details necessary to process a subscription (such as your country and the last four digits of your card). We never see or store your full card number — payment is processed by our payment processor, Stripe.
  • Support correspondence: The contents of messages you send us when you contact support.
  • Connected Destination information: When you connect a Destination (such as Notion, Feishu Docs or Obsidian), we store the credentials or tokens you provide solely to route clips to that Destination on your behalf.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Information about how you interact with the Services, such as feature usage, plan type, and event timestamps, used to operate and improve the Services.
  • Device and technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and identifiers such as cookies and similar technologies, used for security, anti-abuse, and basic analytics.
  • Crash and error logs: Anonymized technical logs generated when an error occurs, to help us diagnose and fix bugs.

2.3 The content of your clips

We do not access, read, or use the content you capture with Uniclip for advertising, analytics profiling, or any purpose other than transmitting it to the Destination you choose. Because Uniclip is offline-first, your capture rules, plans, queue, settings and history are stored locally in your browser. When you save a clip to a cloud Destination, the content is transmitted, on your explicit action, either directly from your browser to that Destination's API or through our servers as a transient pass-through. We do not retain the contents of clips on our servers beyond what is strictly necessary to deliver them.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain and improve the Services;
  • Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
  • Process payments and manage your subscription or Lifetime Plan;
  • Transmit your clips to the Destinations you connect;
  • Send you service notices, security alerts, and, where you have agreed, product updates;
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
  • Detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security issues and other violations of our Terms;
  • Comply with our legal obligations; and
  • Understand how the Services are used so we can improve them.

For users in jurisdictions with data protection laws (such as the GDPR and the UK GDPR), we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the Services you requested and to fulfill our obligations under the Terms;
  • Legitimate interests: to operate and improve the Services, ensure security, and prevent fraud;
  • Consent: where you have given consent (for example, for optional marketing emails); and
  • Legal obligation: where we are required to process data by law.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Third parties that help us operate the Services, such as Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), our hosting and storage providers (Cloudflare and S3-compatible storage), and analytics providers. These providers process data on our behalf and under contract.
  • Destinations you connect: When you save a clip to a Destination, the clip content is sent to that third-party service under that service's own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how Destinations handle your data.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred, subject to confidentiality.
  • Legal compliance: Where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Uniclip, our users or the public.

6. Your privacy rights

You have rights over your personal data. To exercise any of the rights below, contact us at support@uniclip.net. We will respond within the time frame required by applicable law (generally within 30 days), and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

  • Access and portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and you can view your account information at any time from your account settings.
  • Rectification: You can correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data — most of it directly in your account settings.
  • Export your clips: Because your capture rules, plans, queue and history are stored locally in your browser, you can export them at any time using the Extension's local export feature (Markdown, CSV, or JSON).
  • Deletion and account cancellation: You can request that we delete your personal data. Deleting your account is the most complete way to do this — once you delete your account, we remove your account information and personal data from our active systems within 30 days. You can delete your account at any time from the Extension settings, or by contacting support@uniclip.net.
  • Restriction and objection: In some circumstances you may ask us to restrict or stop processing your personal data, for example where you believe it is inaccurate or processing is unlawful.
  • Withdraw consent: Where we rely on your consent to process data (for example, marketing emails), you can withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
  • Communication preferences: You can opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in any email. Service notices (such as security alerts) cannot be opted out of, as they are necessary to operate the Services.

For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and California, additional rights may apply under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Data retention

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted from our active systems within 30 days after you delete your account. Limited records may be retained where required by law (for example, tax and billing records) or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
  • Billing records are retained for as long as required by accounting and tax laws.
  • Usage and log data is retained for a limited period and then aggregated or deleted.

8. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the People's Republic of China, the United States, and other regions where our service providers operate. Where this involves a transfer of personal data outside your jurisdiction, we take measures designed to ensure your data receives a similar level of protection, such as standard contractual clauses or other transfer mechanisms where required.

9. Data security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction — including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security review. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the Site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features of the Site. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles based on your browsing activity across other websites.

11. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction (under 13, or higher where required). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

The Services let you connect to third-party Destinations and may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third parties. When you connect a Destination, the content you save there is subject to that service's own privacy policy.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address associated with your account) and/or by posting the updated Policy on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

14. Contact us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, or wish to exercise any of your privacy rights, please contact us at support@uniclip.net or via our contact page.
